AFA 2017… ALL HEROES WELCOME!

For over fifteen years, AFA has traveled our great country working with incredible men and women in all types of emergency situations. When our journey began shortly after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, our focus was on educating athletes about emergency preparedness. In 2010, AFA refocused its educational platform and began teaching athletes how to “Save a Life” through the techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

For the past six years, AFA has trained high school, collegiate, professional and amateur athletes in the cities of Battle Creek, Fort Myers, Boston, Orlando, Nashville, New Orleans, Philadelphia and Los Angeles, just to name a few. Thousands of athletes are now trained and better prepared to respond to an emergency situation. During these training sessions, another incredible thing happened. We began to discover stories about athletes who were already saving lives in their communities. To our surprise, it was not just by CPR and or the use of an AED but in a variety of different ways. Those stories were so amazing and inspiring that AFA has decided to begin telling these stories.

Every athlete knows the mental and physical pain, self-sacrifice and endless hours of hard work it takes to become an athlete. Becoming a great athlete requires a greater sacrifice. To be honored by AFA and ultimately inducted into the AFA Circle of Honor an athlete must go way beyond their athletic endeavors. They must understand as an athlete they have a greater responsibility to humanity and that responsibility is to use their GOD given athletic ability to Protect, Serve, Educate and Make a Difference every day in this world both on and off the field.

In January 2017, AFA will begin accepting all lifesaving stories from any athlete who wishes to share them with us. Every story we receive will then be shared with America and the World through our social media and technology platforms.  In December 2017, AFA will select three very special athletes whose stories have shown us they truly understand the meaning of Protect, Serve, Educate and Make a Difference. These three athletes will be honored nationally by AFA and its Founder and become the newest inductees into the AFA Circle of Honor.
