OUR MISSION:
To utilize the strength of our Athletes and the power of the American sports system
and media to help educate millions of Americans on how each one of us can become
better prepared and trained for any type of natural, manmade or day to day emergency.
“In the course of an Athlete’s lifetime, we should hope and pray that not only will we be remembered for our athletic achievements but more importantly for how we used our God given talents to give something good back to humanity.”

AFA Loses A Patriot
Merlin Littlefield will forever be remembered as one of AFA’s greatest Patriots. He lost his battle with cancer today but his spirit will live on in each and every life that is saved or changed by the Athletes who Protect, Serve, Educate and Make A Difference in America. Merlin was one of the first to step up to the challenge when AFA Founder, Billy McGehee called.
Merlin Littlefield was a Leader of people. His ability to inspire others to take on difficult projects was one of the many reasons Billy McGehee asked Merlin to serve America through AFA. “Merlin became in a short period of time one of my best friends. His character, moral compass, humor, love for people, love for America and his ’I can get it done’ attitude were the things that made him a special human being. I will miss my friend dearly,” said McGehee.
To honor Merlin Littlefield, AFA will create an annual award that will recognize athletes who excel as leaders on the playing field and in their community. This award will be “Officially” recognized as “THE MERLIN LITTLEFIELD SPIRIT OF AMERICA AWARD” and will be presented annually by his loving wife Eilleen to each year’s selection.
Merlin Littlefield was Texas born and raised and later moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he became a leader in the Music Industry. Anyone who ever had dealings with Merlin would tell you he was truely a “Special” man. His love for sports lead him to a meeting with AFA Founder Billy McGehee in 1996, who at the time was General Manager of the Arena Football League’s Nashville Kats. From that day on the two have been inseparatable in spirit.
“Merlin Littlefield was a Champion both on and off the field of play. I honestly believe if I could have given him the ball in the final seconds of any game he would have been standing in the endzone. The only reason I didn’t was because I don’t believe any American could have watched his Touchdown Dance!” said Billy McGehee.
GOD Bless you MERLIN LITTLEFIELD!
