Florida Tarpons to Become “first” Professional Football Team in America to Take the Field as Trained and Certified First Responders!

Scott Chadwick, General Manager for the Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) Florida Tarpons announced today at the team’s first press conference that the Florida Tarpons of the UIFL has Teamed-Up with ATHLETES FOR AMERICA and will become the first, professional, football team in America to get trained and certified in CPR and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). “On Wednesday March 7, 2012, the Florida Tarpons will become trained and certified in the life saving skills of CPR and AED. This training will be administered by the Iona- McGregor Fire District which is the first fire district in America to endorse and support ATHLETES FOR AMERICA. Then on Friday, March 9, 2012 history will be made when our entire football squad and coaching staff take the field for our opening home game as trained and certified first responders! We absolutely understand the importance of ATHLETES FOR AMERICA’s Mission and the responsibility that goes with being a first responder. We are very proud to be the first, professional football team in America to take the field fully trained in CPR and how to use an AED. Our players are very integrated into the communities in southwest Florida and I know that having them trained to handle an emergency situation will make everyone in our community feel safer,” said Mr. Chadwick.

AFA Founder, Billy McGehee said, “Scott Chadwick, his Ownership group, coaching staff, and their players fully understand the significance of this moment in history. Athletes and teams are always chasing history which is a rare thing to make. In the future, when Athletes and sports teams all across America take the field wearing the AFA shield signifying they are trained and prepared to handle an emergency situation, there will only be one team that was first to lead the way; that will be the Florida Tarpons. I am honored to have these professional athletes and its Ownership group, coaching staff, and most importantly Scott Chadwick representing ATHLETES FOR AMERICA and our Mission to get every high school, college, and professional athlete in America trained and certified. I look forward to the day when we can say to all American citizens that we as a Nation are much safer because of the millions of Athletes that are trained and ready to save a life”.
