ATHLETES FOR AMERICA, 14 years after the Day that Changed America Forever….

It was the Pearl Harbour that our fathers and mothers talked to us about. “A Day that would live in Infamy” But in fact 9-11 was much more than that fateful December 7th day which happened more than 70 years ago. September 11, 2001 was “The Day” that changed America forever. The cocoon of safety that we lived in was gone forever. The “Terror” was no longer somewhere over there. It had now come to the heart of our country and on that fateful day we as Americans were somehow trying to understand how and why this happened to us. Now, 14 years later the words “Terror and Terrorist” are part of our daily vocabulary. How ironic. More and more horrible attacks continue everyday all across our globe. Unbeknownst to most Americans, these same attempts continue to be made against our homeland on a daily basis. Yet to this day, we as Citizens are still no better prepared to protect ourselves, our family or friends. We still depend mainly on our Government for protection from Terrorist attacks as well as everyday disasters and emergencies.

That is why it is so important for every American to understand this one statement “A country that depends mainly on it’s Government for emergency preparedness and response is a country underprepared and therefore highly vulnerable. America will never be safe until it’s Citizens learn how to become better educated and trained to handle emergency situations, both natural and man made”. Everyday thousands of emergency situations occur all across America. Wouldn’t it be amazing to have millions of 1st responders willing and prepared to step up and assist? The only way this will happen is if we make it a priority to teach all of our young Athletes the basics on how to SAVE A LIFE. That is our sole Mission and it has been for the past 14 years and it will be for the next 14 years. September 11, 2001 may seem like a long time ago but for thousands of Americans who lost their loved ones it was only one heart beat ago.
