September 20, 2014 – Today marks the 13th anniversary of the Founding of ATHLETES FOR AMERICA. Just seven days after the September 11th terrorist attacks, I solemnly sat down and wrote these three words. Little did I know then that those three words would rise from the ashes of the World Trade Centers, Pentagon and the quiet field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania where those brave American souls brought down Flight 93, to become a major emergency preparedness training program for athletes all across America.
Over the past 13 years, AFA and hundreds of volunteer emergency professionals have traveled thousands of miles criss crossing America training high school, college and professional athletes. From Los Angeles to Nashville, New Orleans to Boston, we have had the privilege to work with incredible individuals who are dedicated to helping our country become a much safer place to live.
Today, we begin our 14th year of service to this great country. Our mission remains the same, to utilize the strength of our athletes and the power of the sports system to help train millions of athletes in emergency preparedness. On behalf of everyone representing AFA, we want to sincerely thank every single individual who has worked with us during these past 13 years. May God bless you all!!
